Pour in the milk slowly, whisking continuously, until it is mixed in well. Add the flour and stir until onion and meat is coated and reduce the heat to low. Return the cooked ground beef to the pan. Toss the garlic, paprika, and jalapenos to the skillet. Add 4 tablespoons of bacon grease and 4 tablespoons of butter to the skillet (if you run out of bacon drippings substitute butter.) Add the onion and cook until translucent.Ĥ. Remove the meat to a colander to drain.ģ. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking up the meat, until no longer pink. Return 2 tablespoons of the bacon drippings back to the skillet. Pour the bacon grease into a heat safe bowl or cup.Ģ. Use a slotted spoon to transfer the cooked bacon to a paper towel lined plate. In a 12 inch skillet over medium-high heat cook the bacon until crisp and it renders its fat. 1 pound macaroni, cooked until al denteġ.5 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese (roughly 18 ounces).2 jalapenos, ribs and seed removed, minced.6 slices bacon, finely diced, rendered fat reserved.I usually try to let it set for 10 minutes once I pull it out of the oven just to let it set up but if you are hungry it tastes the same right out of the oven! If you like it a tad firmer you can stop just short of al dente and your noodles will be firmer in the end. Since it is going into the oven you want to be sure that it is al dente. You can also use some Monterey jack or pepper jack to top the dish with instead of the additional cheddar, which I probably would have done myself if I had some in the house. You know your tastes so don’t be afraid to bump up the heat if you like. We love heat but the kids aren’t fans so I tend to try to keep things on the milder side.

I came up with this recipe because my oldest loves cheeseburger mac and my husband thinks anything is better with bacon (hey he ain’t wrong!) If you like a little more heat you can leave the ribs on one of the jalapenos or toss a little cayenne in with the paprika. The trick for me is trying to keep it different and adult enough to satisfy more than just the kiddos. Remove from oven and let it rest for 5 minutes before serving. My kids, like most, love macaroni and cheese.(You can also use the broiler - just watch it carefully) Sprinkle over macaroni and bake for approximately 15 minutes, until bubbly and browned on top.Stir together 1 TB melted butter, breadcrumbs and remaining cheddar.Add cooked macaroni, bacon and langostinos to the cheese sauce.Continue whisking frequently until sauce has thickened, about 5 minutes, and is smooth and uniform. Using a rubber spatula, go around the edges of your pan to make sure all of the flour gets incorporated. Add milk mixture and whisk to combine.Turn heat up to medium and whisk roux for 2 -3 minutes. In a large saucepot, melt butter over low heat.In a small pot, combine milk and half & half.If you love this recipe, please give it 5 stars! Do you know someone who would like this? I’d love it if you would share it on Facebook or pin it to your favorite recipe board. Your shares help this site to grow and I appreciate it so much. Try substituting langostino tails in your favorite lobster dish or shrimp dish! Here are a few to try: Lobster on Thick Cut Chips with Saffron Aioli – yes, this is lobster, but you could swap it for langostino.Warm, Buttered Langostino Recipe Lobster Rolls – a traditional warm, buttered lobster roll with langostinos.Langostino lobster rolls – classic cold lobster roll with langostinos.Langostino Étoufée – a fun twist on classic crawfish étoufée.The cooked macaroni and thawed langostino tails are added to the warm cheese sauce and then it is baked in a glass baking dish just long enough to brown the top. Warm milk is whisked (I like these silicone whisks) in to make it a sauce, then we add a couple of handfuls of cheese and whisk until smooth. To make the cheese sauce, first we need to make a roux by combining butter and flour.
